May the Lord Our God, Our Heavenly Father Bless You and keep you safe. The Lord promises to watch over his elect and righteous ones in this time of tribulation. Blessed are you who call on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth with true conviction of the heart and soul.
Blessed are those who pray through the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary, The Holy Mother of God who was conceived without sin, and is theMost Holy and Sovereign Queen of Heaven and Earth. Blessed are they that contemplate these prayers and do believe that all things are possible when we have faith and trust in the Glorious Majesty of the Kingdoms of God, and his divine intent to redeem all souls that truly repent of their sins.
For it is that the Lord Jeshua, Our Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, The Holy Redeemer has asked those who seek redemption, and truly seek the Kingdom of God to repent of their sins, and for the sins of the world which offend the Glory of God and the Innocence of the Holy Spirit.
This Contemplation of the Divine Mysteries of Faith is being given as guidance for meditating on the Divine Aspects of Faith and for those who do believe. For the Lord Jesus Christ was sent before us as the Lamb of God, as a sin offering for the souls of men. Blessed be the Lord Thy God forever and ever and from eternity to eternity. Amen
The Lord Jeshua (Jesus Christ) stated:
“The Contemplation of the Divine Mysteries of Faith is given for all that seek repentance for the indifferences of mankind and ingratitude toward My Sacred Heart and the Passion I lived for the salvation of all souls.
These prayers are granted through My Divine Mercy, that all souls may escape from eternal damnation and the severe punishment that is coming upon the world and all of life”.
The Lord has promised:
“Anyone who recites these prayers, with devotion to the Divine Chaplet of Mercy, and repents of their sins will be shown mercy in the hour of judgment”.
“Even if they don’t know me, they may be redeemed with sincere repentance and a true conviction of the heart. This devotion is given that the soul may be redeemed from eternally damnation and lifted onto the My Father and Your Father” Lord Jeshua, Christ Jesus of Nazareth.
Please note that this devotion provides Divine Revelations through the Bless Anna Catherine Emmerich and that which has been given through this channel as revealed by our Lord Jeshua (Jesus Christ) and the Blessed Virgin Mary.
This devotion is design in two phases, the first is as a Novena, and secondly to be spoken as an Act of Contrition utilizing the Stations of the Cross practiced within the Catholic Faith. There have been (2) two (2) additional stations added the devotion. These are by far the two most Important Aspect of the Divine Mystery of Faith, which are the 1) Lords Passion in the Garden and 2) The Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The 1stStation becomes the Lords Passion in the Garden of Gethsemane (The Garden of Olives) when the Lord had prayed three times, bathed in a sweat of blood, asking that this cup would pass away and when he submitted to the will of our Holy Father knowing all things to come and by saying “Not my will but Thy will be done” surrendering his will to the intent of the Almighty.
The second additional station becomes the 16th Station which has been added and is by far the most important Aspect of Faith. This is The Resurrection of the Lord in all his Splendor and Glory by his own Power, Might, and Divinity. “For he is of the Most Holy Father, of the Divine Spirit, and of Our Blessed Mother”, He is the Only Begotten Son of God and Self-Anointed through the Holy Spirit.
Please note that the (10th) Station in the traditional Catholic devotion is identified as the (3rd) Fall of Jesus, this is in accurate. Jesus by this point had fallen (6) different times and had suffered his (3rd) fall when Simon was forced to carry the cross of our Savior. Traditionally this is the 5thStation of the Cross in the Catholic Faith.
It is truly our hope that you are blessed and receive many blessings through this devotion and that it enriches your prayer life and commitment to the Lord. What is revealed in this devotion is not generally known by most Priest, Faith Minister, or Christians in general nor is it instructed by the various faiths around the world.
This Devotion offers a way in which you may honor the Passion of Christ, Our Lord Jeshua, Master and Teacher. The devotion has been designed as a Novena, where a contemplation and prayer of forgiveness is give for each day, until the 16 days are completed.
Upon completion of the Novena, one would then perform the Act of Faith and Contrition by reciting the Prayers of Forgiveness before the various Stations of the Cross and concluded this by reciting the Divine Chaplet of Mercy.
The Act of Contrition, The 1st & 16th
Prayer of Forgiveness are to be recited while kneeling at the foot of the Cross and before the alter. You may stand as you move from the station to station reciting the Prayers of Forgiveness. Contemplation for the Divine Mysteries of Faith.
1st Prayer of Faith in Divine Forgiveness
The Act of Contrition: (To be recited kneeling before the Cross of Humanity)
My Lord Jesus Christ, I humbly kneel before your Holy and Sacred Cross of Sorrow to ask for forgiveness of my sins and transgression before our Almighty Father. I ask you to be with me as I contemplate your 5 Holy Wounds and suffering at each Station of the Cross.
Please Lord accept my prayers and supplications, and take them into your most Sacred Heart. I ask you to search the depths of my heart and know my sincerity, my sorrows, my passion, my desires, and my aspiration to sever the throne of your Holy Father in Heaven. I seek His Divine Forgiveness, your Divine Mercy and the Most Holy and Saving Grace of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Holy Father please accept the Tears of my Pennants and the Sword of Sorrow that is ageist my heart for having sinned before you and thy Holy Spirit. Redeem me O Lord Thy God in your tender mercy and goodness, and pray that your Sacred Will may be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Father I accept your just punishment onto death as I contemplate the Passion of Christ. Let me die to myself and give my life and all that I AM onto the Sacred Heart of our Holy Redeemer and Savior Jesus Christ, and in His name do I pray. Amen
The 1st Contemplation - The Passion of Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane (the Garden of Olives), to be recited kneeling before the alter and Cross of Christ.
The Passion of Christ begins in the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus went to pray after the Last Supper where he had washed the feet of his discipline to humble himself before sanctifying both his Body and Blood, then the bread and wine and had said “Do this in remembrance of me”.
In the Garden, Jesus was suffering from great anguish and sorrow within the depths of his soul, saying “My soul is sorrowful even onto death”, and knowing all things to come. The Father having shown onto him those things which must come to pass.
Each time the Lord prayed he fell upon his face in supplication with all his strength, and with all his being crying onto our Holy Father that this cup would pass. Jesus had seen all the sins of the world from the begging of time onto the end of the world.
He saw the just punishments on those souls that entrapped or cast down and all the torments of Hell. He saw that satan and his servants torn asunder the soul’s men casting them off into pieces only to devour them until they were completely consumed.
The Lord also saw surrounding him disfigured creatures and beings of all manner of darkness, evil and corrupt manifestations, and of every type of being in its grossest deformity and nature. Then a Light had shined down from Heaven, and this light enveloped him. A choirs of Angels appeared and attended to the Lord strengthening him and reinvigorating him.
The grotto outside of this radiance of Holy Light was filled with frightful visions of all the crimes and abominations of that is upon man and beast. Jesus took all these things upon himself, while satan poured forth accusations and lies against him of every manner.
Jesus lifted to his knees to prayed, his soul became terrified at the sight of the innumerable crimes of men, and of their ingratitude towards God. His anguish was so great that he trembled and shuddered as he exclaimed:
'Father, if it is possible, let this chalice pass from me! Father, all things are possible to thee, remove this chalice from me!' But the next moment he added: “Nevertheless, my will but thine be done”.'
When Jesus, had entered the Garden of Olives a second time, he fell to the ground again with his arms extended, and prayed to Our Eternal Father. Angels came to him, and showed him in a series of visions of all the suffering he was to endure in order to expiate sin.
During his third time praying upon his face, Jesus having suffering the consequences of sin, taking onto himself the torments and punishment of each sin that was revealed to hm. The Lord began to pray a third time, he was bathed in a sweat of blood, that was dripping from his pours and asking with desperation, and in despair crying onto the Lord “let this challis pass from me”.
Again the Lord said to our Holy Father, “Not my will but Thy will be done” surrendering his will to the torments of satan after experiencing the terrors of hell.
Then an Angel of the Lord did appeared onto Him, who’s countenance was different and greater than that of all the other Angels who had appeared.
This was the Great and Holy Archangel Raphael who remained with Christ in every moment of His Passion, and Crucifixion, and was upon the hands of Veronica as she lovingly wiped the face of the Lord. Raphael gave onto the Lord a challis in which the Lord took and drank from and was refreshed and strengthen. Yet this was the challis of sin for the salivation of all souls in which the Lord Jeshua shows Divine Mercy.
It was also shown onto the Lord the future and all the abominations of mankind, and the defilement of that which is Sacred and Holy onto God. That satan would corrupt every fabric of life, and every essence and the beauty of life as it was created in the beginning.
The Lord stated “The soul of a man was created in the Divine Imagine and was beautiful without corruption before sin entered into the world”.
1st Prayer of Divine Forgiveness – Recited Before the Holy Cross of Christ
Holy Lord as you prayed with Passion onto the Holy Father that this cup may be taken way, I ask that you would (mention your petition) and if not, I willing accept your will and the will of our Father. Amen
The 2nd Contemplation (The 1stStation of the Cross)
Contemplation - Jesus is Condemned by Pilate
Pilate, who did not desire to condemn Jesus attempted to release him several times, stating; “I find no crime in this man, Herod your Kings finds no crime in this man”. At this time Pilate also questioned to himself if Jesus was a God, would he have vengeance upon his judgment?
Pilate was both irritated and alarmed at the last words of Jesus, “You have no power over me if it were not given to you from Heaven. There the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin”. Pilate made another attempt to release Jesus firmly convinced in his own mind of the innocence of Jesus. The Jews cried out even more to crucify him.
Thus did he sacrifice Jesus to the enmity of the Jews, and washed his hands before the people, saying, 'I am innocent of the blood of this just man; look you to it’ as if he was able to wash this sin from his soul, as he did his hands.
The Jews, and the crowd of reprobates who would be dammed for their sin cried out ‘His blood be upon us and upon our children,' hearing this Pilate commenced his preparations for passing sentence.
Our Lord was still clothed in his purple garment, the crown of thorns upon his head, and his hands bound when the executors brought him up to the tribunal, and placed him between the two thieves. Pilate again addressed the enemies of Jesus, in these words, 'Behold your King!'But the cries of 'Crucify him! Crucify him!' resounded on all sides. 'Shall I crucify your King?' said Pilate. 'We have no King but Cæsar!' responded the High Priest.
Pilate found it was utterly hopeless to say anything more, and therefore commenced his preparations for passing sentence. The crosses of the two thieves were by their sides; that which was intended for our Lord was not brought forth, because he was not as yet sentenced to death.
When the base judge in a tremulous voice did pronounced the sentence of death on this Just Man. This was to the sight of the triumphant countenances of the High Priests and Jews. Our loving Savior though being sentenced to crucified agonized in his heart over the grief of his beloved Mother and her tremendous sorrows this day and the pain she would suffer.
2nd Prayer of Forgiveness
Holy Lord as you accepted the condemnation at the hand of Israel; I accept your condemnation for my sins before the Holy Father and will accept your just punishment onto death. Amen
The 3rd Third Contemplation (The 2nd Station of the Cross)
Contemplation – Jesus accepts his Cross with Prayers of Gratitude
The executors led Jesus into the middle of the court, and threw down the cross at his feet; the cross was tied on to the centre piece. Jesus knelt down by its side, embracing the cross with his arms, and kissed it three times, and spoke a prayer of thanksgiving to his Heavenly Father for the work of redemption which he had begun.
They placed the cross on his right shoulder and Angels came at that moment to assistance Jesus carry the enormous weight and burden of the cross. Otherwise he would not have been able to stand. By means of ropes the executioners had fastened to Jesus waist they pulled him in all directions.
The Lord was trembling beneath this burden, his bare feet were swollen and bleeding, his back bent under the heavy weight of the cross, and his whole body was covered with wounds and blood, and they then pulled Jesus forward.
The Lord was exhausted from not having water or sleep, and was severely weakened from the loss of blood, dehydration and severe pain. The Lords hands were cut by the cords with which he was bound; his face bloody and disfigured; his hair and beard saturated with blood; the weight of the cross and of his chains burden the Lord greatly, yet Our Holy Redeem Prayed for his Executors that they be forgiven.
Pilate and his courtiers were a distance behind the possession and in the midst of his officers clad in armor, preceded by a squadron of cavalry, and followed by three hundred foot soldiers marching through the town in order to prevent any insurrection among the people.
Jesus was led through a back street that was both narrow and dirty. He suffered much in passing through it, for his executors harassed him with every step.
People stood on the roofs, and at the windows, insulting him with opprobrious language. The salves in the streets threw filth and mud at him; even the children had cast sharp stones before their doors that Jesus might walk over them.
3rd Prayer of Forgiveness
Holy Lord please help me to carry my cross through life and forgive me sins, for they are more than I can bear. Amen
The 4th Contemplation – (The 3rdStation of the Cross)
Contemplation - The Lord falls for the first time
The street became steep, also wider; under this street ran a subterranean aqueduct proceeding from Mount Sino. In that vicinity was a hollow which was often filled with water and mud after each rain.
When Jesus reached this spot his strength was completely exhausted, he was unable to move as his executors dragged and pulled on him without mercy or compassion, he fell down against a stone, and the cross fell by his side.
The cruel executioners stopped, they abused and struck our Lord unmercifully, vainly did the Lord hold out his hand for someone to assist him and exclaimed: “Ah!' all will soon be over” and He Prayed for his Enemies.
Lift him up,' said the Pharisees, otherwise he will die in our hands.
There were many women and children following the procession at this time and at first wept, but latter they had become frightened being convicted of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus, however received support from above, and raised his head, but these cruel men put the crown of thorns again on his head before they pulled him out of the mud, and replaced the cross on his back.
The crown of thorns which encircled his head increased his pain inexpressibly, and he bent over on one side to give room for the cross, which laid the souls of humanity.
4th Prayer of Forgiveness
Holy Lord forgive me my weakness and my fall into the dust of my sins, the weight of them has crushed me to my knees, help me Lord to bear this burden. Amen
The 5th Contemplation (The 4th Station of the Cross)
Contemplation – Mary consoles the Lord with Tears of Sorrow in Great Agony
After hearing the sentence pronounced the Blessed Mother left the forum, accompanied by John and other women.
The Holy Mother walked to many of the spots sanctified by our Lord, and watering them with her Sacred Tears of Sorrow. She desired to see her beloved Son once more, and John guided her through the streets to the place where Jesus was to pass.
Mary was pale, her eyes were red from weeping, and she was exposed to the outrages and insults of the enraged multitude. The Blessed Virgin fell to her knees praying fervently, she turned to John and said, “Shall I have strength to support such a sight?” John answer, “If you do not remain to see him pass, you will grieve afterwards”
The Holy Mother pressed her hands together to implore the help of Heaven; upon which a man among them said to his companions: 'What woman is that who is uttering such lamentations?' Another answered: 'She is the Mother of the Galilean.'
When the cruel men heard this, far from being moved to compassion, he and those close by began to tormenting her and one of them took the nails which were to be used for fastening Jesus to the cross, and presented them to her as an insulting jester.
The Holy Mother being overwhelmed by grief leaned against a pillar for support being close to fainting from anguish.
Then came our beloved Lord, he was almost sinking under the heavy weight of the cross. His head, was still crowned with thorns, was drooping in agony. He cast a look of compassion and sorrow upon his Mother, staggered, and fell for the second time upon his hands and knees.
Mary was consumed in this moment of sorrow, she forgot all else at the sight of Jesus, she threw herself on her knees by his side and embraced him. The only words spoke by Mary were, “Beloved Son!”Christ looked upon her Beautiful Face and said “Look Mother I make all things new again”.
A momentary confusion ensued. John and the holy women that followed Mary had endeavored to raise her from the ground as the executors reproached her, and saying “What hast thou to do here, woman? He would not have been in our hands if he had been better brought up.”
A few of the soldiers looked touched; and had obliged the Blessed Virgin to stand in the doorway; no one laid their hands upon her. John and the holy women surrounded her as she fell half fainting against a stone upon which the impression of her hands remains to this day.
This stone was very hard and afterwards removed to the first Catholic Church built in Jerusalem, near the Pool of Bethsaida, during the time that St. James the Less was Bishop of that city.
The 5th Prayer of Forgiveness
Holy Lord I pray that I may be consoled by your Holy Mother in my supplications and prayers and that I may be given Fortitude and Hope in my Suffering and I unit this to your Holy Cross. As you stated to the Blessed Mother, “Look I AM making all things new again”, renew my spirit and my soul Lord. Amen
The 6th Contemplation (The 5thStation of the Cross)
Contemplation - Jesus is helped by Simon to carry the Cross the 3rd Fall of Jesus
The procession had reached an arch formed in an old village wall belonging to the town opposite the square in which three streets terminated. Jesus stumbled against a large stone in the archway, the cross fell from his shoulder and the Lord fell upon the stones and was totally unable to rise.
Many respectable-looking people had stopped and compassionately expressed, “Look at that poor man, he is certainly dying!”' but his enemies showed no mercy or compassion.
This fall caused a delay, as our Lord could not stand up; the Pharisees had said “We shall never get him to the place of skulls alive”. At this moment Simon of Cyrene, happened to be passing by accompanied by his three children.
He was a gardener in the city and the executors had perceiving that he was a pagan, seized him, and ordered him to assist Jesus in carrying the cross. Simon was a stout-looking man, about forty years of age and at first he refused to carry the Cross, but was soon compelled to obey. Although his children were frightened and crying, a women step forward quieting the children and took charge of them.
Simon was annoyed, and complained at being obliged to walk with a man in such a deplorable condition being dirty and in misery. Jesus had wept, and cast a heavenly look upon him that touched his heart, being convicted of the Holy Spirit; Simon helped our Lord to his feet.
The executioners then fastened the arm of the cross on the shoulders of Simon as he walked behind our Lord, relieving our Savior of this great weight. Simon had not carried the cross very far before he felt deeply the touch of Grace and the Divinity of Our Lord.
6th Prayer of Forgiveness
Holy Lord the weight of the cross and the sins of the world were so heavy that Simon of Cyrene was chosen to help you. Help me Lord carry my cross for I have repeatedly sin ageist you in my ways. Help me Lord carry this cross in life and lift my burdens. Amen
The 7th Contemplation (The 6th Station of the Cross)
Contemplation – Veronica wipes the Lord Face with her vial
The procession proceeded through a long street where Simon noticed those going to the Temple had shunned Jesus when they saw him out of fear of defilement, while others stopped and expressed pity on the Lords suffering. Simon contemplated these things in his heart.
Within two hundred steps, Seraphia a women of majestic appearance, wife of Sirach a Temple consoler, was enveloped in a long veil came thru the door of a beautiful house holding the hand of a young girl whom she had adopted, and walked to the head of the procession. Due to her bravery she was afterwards known as Veronica, which means (Vera Icon) True Portrait.
Seraphia had a large veil over her arm, while the little girl tried to hide the jar of aromatic wine that had been prepared for the Lord. They both pushed through the crown and made their way by the soldiers, and executors to reached Jesus.
Seraphia fell down on her knees before the Savior holding out the veil towards him, saying “Permit me to wipe the face of my Lord”. Jesus took the veil in his left hand, wiped his bleeding face, and returned it with thanks. Seraphia kissed it, and put it under her cloak.
The little girl then timidly offered the wine to the Lord; but brutal soldiers would not allow Jesus to drink it. The executors began striking and viscously abusing our Divine Master. Seraphia returned in haste to her house where she fell almost senseless to her knees with the child weeping by her side.
A friend had entered the room where she was kneeling, and saw the bloody countenance of our Lord imprinted upon the veil, a perfect likeness of the Lords Holy Face. He roused Seraphia, and pointed to the veil. She again knelt down before it, and exclaimed through her tears, “Now I shall indeed leave all my days with a happy heart, for my Lord has given me a remembrance of himself.”
This veil obtained for her the name of Veronica, and it is still shown for the veneration of the faithful. Veronica kept this veil until her death, and hung it at the head of her bed; it was then given to the Blessed Virgin Mary, who left it to the Apostles, and they afterwards passed it on to the Church.
Veronica was a cousin of John the Baptist, Johns father Zacharias was her uncle and she was close to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Joachim and Anna had presented Mary, then a small child, only four years old, in Jerusalem among her place with the virgins in the Temple.
The 7th Prayer of Forgiveness
Holy Lord as Veronica wipe the tears and blood from you Holy Face, I ask you to wipe the Tears of my Penance from my face with the Love that Veronica had shown you, be Merciful to me Lord and forgive me my sins which have crucified you. Amen
The 8th Contemplation - (The 7thStation of the Cross)
The 8th Contemplation - Jesus falls for the Fourth Time
The procession proceeded towards the
south-west gate, the street was rough and steep, it passed under a vaulted arch, then over a bridge, and under a second arch. When the procession neared this gate, the executors brutally shoved Jesus into a stagnant pool.
Simon of Cyrene in trying to avoid the pool gave the cross a twist, which caused Jesus to fall for the fourth time in the dirty mud. Simon had the greatest difficulty in lifting the cross again.
Jesus then exclaimed in a tone which although clear was moving and sad:
“'Jerusalem, Jerusalem, how often would I have gathered together thy children as the hen doth gather her chickens under her wings, and thou wouldst not?”
When the Pharisees heard these words they becoming infuriated and resumed their veil insults while the executors beat Our Lord to force him to get up. Their cruelty to Jesus exasperated Simon so that he said, “If you continue this brutal conduct, I will throw down the cross and carry it no farther. I will do so even if you kill me for it.”
The 8th Eight Prayer of Forgiveness
Holy Lord they beaten you so severely, being dehydrated, and weakened by the thousands of insults, spits, blows, lacerations and other unheard of cruelties. Thou did fall to thy knees in exhaustion. My Blessed Redeemer I too have fallen into sin, and exhausted from carrying this burned in my heart and ask you Lord to forgive me of my sins. Amen
The 9th Contemplation (The 8thStation of the Cross)
Contemplation – The Weeping Women, Jesus falls for a fifth time
Through this gate there was a narrow and stony path, this path ran in a northerly direction towards Calvary. A group of women and small children gathered near this spot, and were weeping and lamenting. Most were young maidens carrying children and women from Jerusalem, from Bethlehem, from Hebron and other neighboring villages.
Jesus was again falling but Simon perceiving this and quickly supported the Lord, catching him in this fall. When the women and children saw the deplorable condition of our Lord they cried loudly and wept. Several of the women according to Jewish custom presented cloths to Jesus to wipe his face. Jesus turned to them and said:
“'Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not over me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. For behold the days shall come wherein they will say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that have not borne, and the paps that have not given suck.
Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, fall upon us and to the hills, cover us. For if in the green wood they do these things, what shall be done in the dry?' Then Jesus had compassion on them, and in a few words consoled them.
The 9th Prayer of Forgiveness
Holy Lord forgive me for the Tears of Sorrow I have caused your Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Dry your eyes Holy Lord for I firmly resolve with conviction to be faithful to you and offer pennants through your beloved Mother, The Blessed Virgin Mary and to avoid the near occasion of sin and to never sin against you again. Amen
The 10th Contemplation (The 9th
Station of the Cross)
Contemplation - Jesus suffers his 6th and 7th falls.
The procession continued on, the road was very steep and rough. Jesus had the greatest difficulty in carrying this heavy burden on his shoulders. The executors again showed no mercy or compassion towards their Savior, and urge him on by inflicting more blows, and curses upon him. They had reached a spot where the pathway turned suddenly, this is where the Lord stumbled and fell for the sixth time.
The Lord fell extremely hard being totally exhausted. The guards and executors struck him even harder to force him to get up, and no sooner did he reach Calvary than he sank down again for the seventh time.
Simon of Cyrene was filled with indignation and pity; notwithstanding his fatigue, he wished to remain close to assist Jesus. However he executors reviled him and then drove him away. He joined the disciples who had followed close to the procession and were standing at a distance from where Jesus was.
It was almost noon when Jesus reached Calvary with the cross; he fell down at the precise spot where he was to be crucified. The sight of our Blessed Lord at this moment moved even the hardest heart to compassion as many of the pious people and tender of heart cried
The 10th Tenth Prayer of Forgiveness
Holy Lord look down upon me and stay my hand that I should not fall again before you, keep me from all temptations and the lies of the devil and all evil that seeks my ruin and fall into perdition. Amen
The 11th Contemplation (The 10th Station of the Cross)
Contemplation - Jesus is stripped of his clothing.
There were eighteen executors on the mount of Calvary and six others who came for the purpose of crucifying our Lord. There was one there, a short thick-set man with ferocious in his countenance which resembled a wild beast more than a human being. These six employed themselves by drinking and making preparations for the crucifixion.
There were many demons present which the Lord saw and who were invisible to the normal eye. There were large bodies of evil spirits in all manner of form in the likeness of toads, serpents, sharp-clawed dragons, and venomous insects, urging these wicked men to still greater cruelty.
The presence of this evil darkening the air and the mount of Calvary, it was as if a cloud had set upon the mount. These spirits crept into the mouths and into the hearts of the executors and soldiers, and sat upon their shoulders filling their minds inciting them to greater brutality and vile insults towards Jesus.
Weeping Angels had surrounded Jesus at this moment, their tears were of a consoling nature and they were encompassed by little Angels of Glory. There were likewise, Angels of pity and Angels of consolation among them. The consoling Angels went to the Holy Mother and the pious people whispering words of comfort to them.
The executioners soon pulled off our Lord's cloak, when they found it was impossible to pull the wool garment which Mary had woven for him over his head on account of the crown of thorns. They tore off this most painful crown, reopening every wound, and seizing the garment tore it mercilessly over his bleeding and wounded head.
The wool had stuck to the Saviors wounds and caused him indescribable pain. He shook uncontrollably as he stood before them. Our Lord was covered with open wounds and his shoulders and back was torn to the bone. The executors then created more suffering by putting the crown of thorns back upon his head.
The 11th Prayer of Forgiveness
Holy Lord as you were stripped naked, strip me Lord of all fleshly desires and extinguish within the concupiscence of the flesh and the perversion of satan. Remove all evil and vile affections from my heart and mind that I may serve you Lord in innocence and purity. Amen
The 12th Contemplation Jesus (The 11th Station of the Cross)
Contemplation - Jesus is fasten and raised upon the Cross
The scene of the Crucifixion was frightful, the Lord was in terrible agony from the pain he suffered when they torn his robe from him. Our Savior shook uncontrollably as he was standing before them. Being weakened from the loss of blood Jesus was unable to support himself for more than a moment.
Our Savior was completely covered with open wounds, the flesh on his shoulders and back was torn to the bone by the scourging he endured, and the cross which he bare for all of humanity.
The Lords wounds were aggravated when they replaced the crown of thorns upon his head and then offered him some vinegar and gall, our Lord turned away in silence to this.
Our Holy Redeemer, then place himself on the cross with his last once of strength.
The executors seizing his right arm stretching it to the hole prepared for the nail, and tied it down tightly with a cord. One of them then knelt upon the chest of Jesus, a second held his hand flat, and a third taking a long thick nail, pressed it into the open palm of his hand.
With a larger iron hammer the executor drove the nail through the flesh, and deep into the wood. Our Lord groaned, his blood gushed forth on the arms of the executor. The nails were very large, the size of a thickness of a man’s thumb, while the points were blunt.
The Blessed Virgin Mary stood motionless as she again witnessed this atrocity ageist our Lord and was near to fainting from grief. Mary Magdalena was also beside herself with anguish for the Lord and weeping with her face turned towards the ground as being crushed in spirit.
The executors then with indescribable curtly tied a rope to his left arm, steadying their feet against the cross, they pulled until the Lord left arm was violently dislocated, and stretched it until it reached the nail hole. This dreadful process caused our Lord indescribable agony and immense pain.
Again they knelt upon him, tied down his arms, and drove the second nail into his left hand; his blood flowed and the Lord groaned once more. However nothing could move the hardness of their hearts as the executioners shown not even the slightest trace of pity or mercy for Jesus.
The Blessed Mother became white as a corpse as she witnesses these things, while the Pharisees insulted the Blessed Virgin hurling painful words and gestures. The disciples surrounding Mary, and led her to the group of pious women that were standing a short distance from the cross.
The executioners then fastened a piece of wood to the lower part of the cross, where the feet of Jesus would be nailed. This was to support the weight of his body instead of the wounds in his hands.
This also prevented the bones of his feet from being broken when nailed to the cross. The cross truly was the most horrendous instrument of torment and death assuring excruciating pain and torments for the greatest length of time before a person would expire.
The executors then fastened a rope to the Lords right leg, pulled it violently until it reached the wood, and then tied it down tight. The agony which Jesus suffered from this violent tension is indescribable, and the executioners added pain to pain by tying his chest and arms to the cross. They placed his left foot on top of his right foot, and bored a hole through them.
Next they took a very long nail and drove it completely through both feet into the cross; this was extremely painful on account of the Lords limbs being pulled out of their joints, and the body being in an unnatural position.
During the time of the crucifixion our Lord never ceased praying, repeating passages from the Psalms. From time to time the Lord moaned from the excessive suffering. Jesus had prayed continually through his passion and torment onto the moment of his death.
When Jesus had been fasten and raised upon the cross as a common criminal, Pilate’s inscription was nailed on the top of the cross. It was about a quarter past twelve when Jesus was crucified; and at the moment the cross was lifted up, the Temple trumpets blasted to announce the sacrifice of the Paschal Lamb.
When the executioners had finished the crucifixion of our Lord, they tied ropes to the cross, and raised the cross. When the heavy cross fell into the hole it shocked Jesus, he uttered a faint cry, and his wounds were torn open in the most fearful manner, his blood again burst forth.
This was a terrible sight to behold; the cross was raised up in the midst of the vast concourse of people assembled all around. Standing around the cross were the insulting soldiers, the proud and trumpet Pharisees, and the brutal Jewish mob as well as strangers from all parts of the region.
Despite the outrages and insults of the Jews, prayers of love and compassion resounded through the air at this moment by the holy women and saintly people, by both Mary’s, John and those who were pure in heart. They bowed down and adored the ‘Word made Flesh’ nailed to the cross, they stretched forth their hands as if giving assistance to the Holy of Holies, whom they beheld nailed to a cross.
But when the solemn sound of the cross falling into the hole was heard, a dead silence ensued. At that moment all the inmates of hell shook with terror, and vented their rage by insighting the enemies of Jesus to still greater fury and brutality.
The eminence on which the cross was planted was about two feet higher than the surrounding parts; the feet of Jesus were sufficiently near the ground for his friends to be able to kiss them, as the Holy Mother did weeping and crying at the Lords feet, asking that she may die with her Holy Son and that this would be Gods Sacred Will for her.
The 12th Twelfth Prayer of Forgiveness
Holy Lord as they pierced your Sacred Hands and Feet, I too am pierced by my sins and the transgressions of my hands and the ways in which I have walked upon this earth. Forgive me Lord of my sins of omission, my sins of commission, and my sins of influence. I repent of my ways and confess myself to be the most miserable of sinners. Have Mercy on my soul. Amen
The 13th Contemplation (The 12th Station of the Cross)
Contemplation – Jesus Expires on the Cross
The hour of our Lord had come, and our
Savior was in agony in his struggle with death, a cold sweat had covered his limbs. The Blessed Disciple John stood at the foot of the Cross and wiped the feet of Jesus with his scapular. Mary of Magdalena was on the ground in a frenzy, grieving for the Lord. The Blessed Virgin Mary stood between Jesus and the good thief, supported by Salome and Mary of Cleophas, with her eyes riveted on Jesus.
With his last breath, the Lord bowed his head and said: 'It is consummated;’ and, raising his head, cried out in a loud voice, ‘Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit.’
These words were in a clear tone, and had resounded through the Heavens and Earth and at that moment he bowed his head and he gave up the ghost. Christ was seen by those with spiritual eyes, his soul appeared with an aura of bright light surrounding him that extending outward and penetrating into the earth at the foot of the Cross. John and the holy women fell prostrate on the ground at this sight.
The centurion Abenadar steadfastly fixed his eyes on the disfigured countenance of Jesus, and was overwhelmed by all that had taken place. When our Lord pronounced his last words in a loud tone the earth trembled, and the rock of Calvary burst asunder, forming a deep chasm between the Cross of our Lord and that of Gesmas.
The voice of God was heard, this was a most solemn and yet a terrible voice that echoed through the universe and broke the solemn silence which then pervaded all of nature. All had been accomplished, the soul of our Lord had left his body and his last cry had filled every heart with terror.
The earth by being rendered had paid homage to its Creator; the Sword of Sorrow as prophecies by Simon had pierced every heart, and of those who loved him. This moment was the moment of grace for Abenadar; his horse trembled under him; his heart was touched; it was rent like the hard rock; he threw his lance to the ground, struck his breast, and cried out: ‘
Blessed be the Most High God, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob; indeed this Man was the Son of God!’
His words convinced many among them to follow his example and were likewise converted in that moment.
Abenadar became from this moment on a new man. He adored the true God and would no longer serve the enemies of Christ. No sooner had he rendered public testimony of his belief in the Divinity of Jesus, than a large number of soldiers followed his example, as did many bystanders, and even a few Pharisees.
Many struck their breasts, wept, and returned home, while others rent their garments, and cast dust on their heads. All were filled with fear for their part in the execution of Jesus and their behavior towards the Lord.
John had risen from his knees with the holy women who attended to The Blessed Virgin Mary and led her away from the foot of the Cross as she was overcome with grief and exhausted from the terror of this day.
The grief of the Blessed Virgin cannot be expressed in words for the pain she felt. Her eyes were closed, her countenance had changed and she unable to stand, she fell to the ground, but was soon lifted up supported by John and Mary of Magdalena, and the other holy women.
The Blessed Mother had looked once more upon her beloved Son, The Christ who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, the flesh of her flesh, the bone of her bone, the heart of her heart prostrated upon the cross between thieves. Our Lord had been condemned and sacrificed by those whom he came to save and why The Virgin Mary is known as the Queen of Martyrs.
It was about three o’clock when Jesus expired on the cross. The Pharisees alarmed by the earthquake and after the first shock was over began to throw stones into the chasm to measure its depth, and with ropes. However the depth of this chasm could not be found or determined by any means.
Upon this they pondered as they listened to the groans of those present that were lamenting and striking their breasts.
Many among the spectators were convicted and converted by the Holy Spirit, and the greater part returned to Jerusalem overcome with fear for this most grievous sin ageist the Son of God.
The friends of Jesus stood round the Cross, many is disbelief and contemplated the Divinity of our Lord, weeping with the holy women. All walked away in silent overcome with grief
The (13th) Prayer of Forgiveness
Holy Lord before you expired on the Cross you humbly commanded your Spirit into the hands of the Holy Father by saying “Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit” by this precious death and supreme sacrifice I commend my sprit and my soul into your hands and turn my life over to your Sacred Heart and Divine Mercy. May the Sacred Will of
our Father be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.+. Amen
The 14th Contemplation (The 13th Station of the Cross)
Contemplation - Jesus is lowered from the Cross.
Joseph and Nicodemus were in mourning attire, their cloaks were drawn
over their heads, these were both wide and long to conceal everything that they were carrying. When Joseph and
Nicodemus reached the gate exiting the city they found it closed and guarded with the road lined with soldiers.
Joseph showed an order signed by Pilate to let them pass freely.
The soldiers explained to him that they were unable to open the gate due to the earthquake for it had been moved out of its place.
But when Joseph and Nicodemus took hold of the bolt, the gate opened as on its own power to great astonishment of all the bystanders.
When they had reached the Mount of Calvary they found the holy women on the ground weeping in front of the Cross.
Cassius and several soldiers remained at a distance being converted and convicted by the Holy Spirit they had remained respectful and reserved.
Joseph and Nicodemus described to the Blessed Virgin Mary and John all they had done to save Jesus from an ignominious death, and how they had succeeded in preventing the bones of our Lord from being broken, and how the prophecy had been fulfilled as given in Psalms 34:20, “He keepeth his bones, not one of them is broken”.
No sooner had the centurion Abenadar arrived than they began to take the body of Christ from the cross with deep reverence of spirit as they went about their sacred labor in morning, with a great sorrow and in tears. The Blessed Virgin Mary and Mary of Magdalena were at the foot of the Cross while the
